Joseph Thomas Allen

Joseph Thomas Allen was the youngest son born to Joseph Allen and his second wife Mary Williams Goff, widow of Lazarus Goff of Jackson County, Mississippi and Mobile County, Alabama. Mary Williams Goff was the daughter of Rev. Soldier John Bailey Williams of Jackson County, Mississippi.

Joseph is proven the youngest child by the will of his father, Joseph Allen.

Joseph Thomas was thought to be the son of Joseph and his first wife, Rhoda Allen. However, after carefully researching jrecords it indicates he was born 1837 and Rhoda died between 1833-1835. Joseph never knew his Mother Mary, she died when he was very young. He was eight years old when his father Joseph died, therefore he never knew much about either of his parents.

After the death of his father in 1845, it was his older brother William who took care of him and his siblings. Joseph also went to Jackson County, Mississippi and visited with his Mother's family and his half brother William Goff. He visited in the household of his Uncle Philip Freeman Williams and grandmother Martha Ann Duncan Williams. Jospeh died from wounds he received in the Civil War. He joined and was listed in the 22nd Alabama Inft. Regt Co. F. This was a regiment that had many who enlisted from the Choctaw, Sumter, and Washington County Alabama. Joseph married Martha Jane Kelly and had one son.
